Liverpool Footballer Diogo Jota Dies at 28 in Car Crash in Spain
Liverpool and Portugal forward Diogo Jota has tragically died at the age of 28 following a car crash in Cernadilla, Zamora, Spain. The accident, which occurred around 12:30 a.m. local time, also claimed the life of his younger brother, André Silva, 25, who played for Penafiel in Portugal’s second division.
The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) confirmed the devastating news on Thursday morning. Spanish authorities believe the crash was caused by a burst tire during an overtaking maneuver. The car, reportedly a Lamborghini, caught fire following the crash.
